REFRACTED
String Trios commissioned with Emily Richardson and Caio Diniz
REFRACTED magnifies the commonalities among the performers and the experiences of composers Catarina Domenici, Erberk Eryılmaz, Alice Hong, and Tian Qin. Interacting with Emily’s Japanese-American upbringing, Caio’s Brazilian heritage, and Nicholas’ fiddling background, each composer brings to life a new string trio that refracts the collaborators’ musical inheritances into a new, collective soundscape.
This project was supported by a Houston Arts Alliance grant and MUSIQA, and premiered at MATCH on November 19th, 2025.
